NENS – Network of European Neuroscience Schools

nens.png

The Master’s degree course in Biotechnology for Neuroscience is part of the Network of European Neuroscience Schools (NENS), a network that connects neuroscience graduate school programmes in Europe, providing a platform for interaction and exchange of best practices. NENS now represents over 200 graduate neuroscience schools and programmes across 28 European countries and offers a powerful voice for neuroscience graduate education at European level.

This network has been founded in 2003 by the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the main organisation for neuroscience in Europe that operates to support and promote neuroscience research and education through scientific meetings, higher education and training and the European journal of Neuroscience.

Master students enrolled in a NENS programme join a network representing over 5,000 neuroscience graduate students and close to 2,500 lecturers and senior researchers and benefit from a wide range of opportunities to gain research experience and develop their career.

As the course is a member of NENS, a student ambassador is in charge of disseminating among students of the course the training and funding opportunities FENS and its partners have available for early career researchers, and this is done by regularly sending emails with the latest communications coming from the NENS office.nens2.png

Some useful tools from the network:

  • FENS NEUROPE, the largest and most comprehensive online resource featuring neuroscience institutes, research centres, graduate programs, and Principal Investigators throughout Europe. Through this platform it is possible to explore the "Who, What, and Where" in neuroscience across the region
  • Webinars and online activities are organized and supported by FENS, focused on training, career development, outreach and advocacy. They can be found summarized here. Another useful tool for webinars is Neuro, collecting open-access webinars on many different topics organized by different universities.
