To introduce the main types of brain-computer interface, discussing their characteristics, methodologies and applications and provide a review of the main investigative techniques, recalling the necessary physiological bases
Introdurre le principali tipologie di brain-computer interface, discutendone caratteristiche, metodologie e applicazioni attraverso un approccio multidisciplinare. Il corso fornirà una revisione delle principali tecniche investigative, richiamando le necessarie basi fisiologiche.

Students will acquire the basic knowledge to orient themselves in the BCI world and use the different methodologies, being aware of their limits and potential.
Al termine del corso, studenti e studentesse avranno acquisito i rudimenti necessari per orientarsi nel mondo BCI e utilizzare le diverse metodologie consapevolmente riguardo a limiti e potenzialità.

Overview of the main types of BCIs, classification criteria and characterization of the different methodologies.
Electrical and magnetic correlates of nervous activity and metabolic correlates underlying the main investigation methods: electroencephalography, magnetoencephalography, functional magnetic resonance, near infrared spectrography.
Outline of experimental protocols and applications.
Panoramica sulle principali tipologie di BCI, criteri di classificazione e caratterizzazione dei vari dispositivi.
Correlati elettrici e magnetici dell’attività nervosa e correlati metabolici alla base delle principali metodologie di indagine: elettroencefalografia, magnetoencefalografia, risonanza magnetica funzionale, spettrografia nel quasi infrarosso.
